Kevin Hart: Don’t F*ck this up

Is Kevin Hart finally sorry?

Kevin Hart must be described as one of the most successful & funniest comedians of the decade. In 2015, Time Magazine named Hart one of the 100 most influential people in the world on the annual Time 100 list.

Being described by fellow comedian Dave Chappelle as nearly perfect: “I don’t know what you know about Kevin, but I know Kevin Hart is damn near perfect. As close to perfect as anybody I’ve ever seen. In fact, Kevin is precisely four tweets shy of being perfect.”

The tweets Chappelle mentioned in his own Netflix stand up show special where a couple of series of homophobic, years-old tweets.

The New docuseries that launched back in December 27th takes a look inside Kevin’s life, his past controversies, family and friends.

It also reflects into the whole Oscar scandal in relationship with the controversial tweets which made Kevin take down the opportunity to become the 6th Afro-American hosting the ceremony.

Hart refused to apologize, arguing that he had already apologized in the past and refused being involved in the Oscars instead.

The LGBT community asked and waited for an apology that never came from the actor & comedian.

So if you were asking yourself if after his three hour, sixth episode docuseries, Hart gives out the formal apology he should have given a year ago instead of dropping out from hosting the Oscars the answer is: No.

As Kevin states, he already addressed the tweets several times throughout the years, claiming the way comedy used to be is really different to the comedy and jokes used now a days and that he would never do those kind of jokes today.

So what is Harts docuseries about then?

The docuseries focuses on Kevin’s daily life. He portrays himself as a hardworking man. His wife Enrico Hart, claims she sometimes becomes concerned that he pushes himself to thin ice.

Kevin gives us a background to his childhood in Philadelphia, where he was under the care of his strict but nevertheless caring and loving mother.

Harts father, is described as absent during most of his sons childhood as he had substance abuse issues that made him probably incapable of taking care of his own sons.

Kevin’s brother on the other hand, got hung up on the streets, getting related with gangs and selling drugs.

As a consequence Harts mother created a really strict schedule for her son where he would have little to no time to relax.

That made Kevin Hart the man who he is today.

We also take a look to his other controversies such as cheating allegations and a fight that took place in one of his private jets.

Is it worth the watch? It really depends on wether you’re a fan of Kevin Hart or not.

If you enjoy his work and believe he’s a great comedian, I would recommend you to stream it. It gives you an insight of his everyday life and his past that you’ll probably enjoy watching as any other fan.

On the other hand, if you’re not a huge fan of Hart’s work and you’re simply expecting an apology from his past behaviour and tweets, I’d highly recommend you to skip it.
It’s up to you, but you might feel like you just wasted three hours of your time.
